Our Hyde family has been traced back to 1805.  There are several members of this family that are buried in the Africa Cemetery in Orange Township, Delaware, Ohio.

Burns Maynard Hyde used to be called "Pappy" by the family.  He was part of an accounting firm recognized by Ripley's 'Believe It or Not' for their name, "Igo, Cheatham & Hyde".  According to Dan Bratton, my uncle, "When I was little my mom had a newspaper clip of a Ripley's article.  It was tucked away in an old box of pictures and I only saw it a few times as I was growing up.  It's all worn and thin like toilet paper now.  your dad has it and sent me a copy of it and I had Ripley's museum in Florida do research on it and they sent me some copies.  In the top left hand corner is a group called Igo, Cheatham & Hyde.  Hyde is my grandfather who was a bookkeeper / accountant, and by coincidence he and the other two started a business not quite realizing the unusual name of the firm.  This article was circulated in their publication around the world in 1944."  You can see a copy of this clipping here; a close-up of the Igo, Cheatham & Hyde is here.
